The New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC) is in the middle of a multi-year process to potentially adopt ecosystem-based fishery management (EBFM) as their framework for managing the coastal fisheries of New England. A significant part of this effort is engaging with fishery stakeholders to both educate them about the process and gather feedback on their concerns about and hopes for a new management system.

NEFMC hired Green Fin Studio to develop a suite of communications and outreach products to educate stakeholders about EBFM and invite them to be part of the process that develops this new management system. The first step in the process was to interview stakeholders and ask them questions to determine their understanding of EBFM as well identify concerns. The information we gathered informed the creation of several fact sheets, brochures, presentations, and a video. These resources are available from the NEFMC website and provide an important tool in the engagement process.
