We used animated graphics and an engaging on-screen host to tell the complex story of coastal and ocean acidification. The four-part series for middle and high school students covers the causes, impacts, and solutions of acidification. Spanish closed caption versions are available for each video.
We created an overview of the Comprehensive Evaluation of System Response (CESR) Report. Contributors to CESR provide an overview of the document, its implications for management of the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed, and how this effort could have only been achieved by a group like STAC.
We created a video series for The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen (TNFW) to support their Endowment 2025 campaign. The one minute, three minute, and ten minute videos highlighted the mission and programs of TNFW and featured interviews with several stakeholders. We captured the first ever drone footage of a secluded 100 foot waterfall on TNFW property.
We created a series of documentary videos to support The Nature Conservancy’s Aquaculture by Design program. Interviews featured researchers and oyster growers at work while conveying the importance of oysters to the health of the Chesapeake Bay.
For the 50th anniversary of the Chesapeake Research Consortium, we developed a video that celebrates their contributions to science, management, and education.
We developed an informational video to highlight the research and education work of the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERR-VA). This video features interviews with researchers and staff discussing their work, paired with b-roll from field research.
Working with the Nansemond Indian Nation, we developed a StoryMap to explain the culture and history of the Nansemond people and the natural history of the river that was named after them. This StoryMap features video, audio, interactive maps, and custom graphics. The project was a winner in ESRI’s 2022 Tribal ArcGIS StoryMaps Challenge.
Like other regions, Albemarle County is already feeling the effects of climate change and the local impacts are expected to intensify in the coming years. We worked with Piedmont Environmental Council to develop this StoryMap that summarizes the findings of a 2022 Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessment.
At Green Fin, we know how important a sense of place can be in environmental communication efforts. This StoryMap highlights examples of our work connected to specific towns, rivers, watersheds, and regions.
We worked with Wild Virginia and the Virginia Safe Wildlife Corridors Collaborative to develop a StoryMap to make habitat connectivity data more accessible and transparent for better public awareness and support. The StoryMap features available tools and resources for partners to use, along with interesting trail cam footage, wildlife photography, and graphics.
