[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]One of the challenges that many environmental organizations face is how to engage with their stakeholders or target audience in new and interesting ways. With all of the channels of communication available to your audience, it can be tough to grab hold of their eyeballs long enough to get your message across. There is a lot for people to look at out there and it is vitally important that you set yourself apart so you don’t just become part of the noise.
Something that we at Green Fin Studio have had success with is drone photography and video. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a picture shot from a drone is worth ten thousand! For less than $500, you can get a drone that shoots photos and video, operate with your smart phone, and master how to control and fly it in a couple hours.
Pictures and video from a drones-eye-view give are generally more captivating than those taken in the flat world of 2D. And they give your audience a perspective that they normally wouldn’t have. What’s more, some drones on the market today allow you to broadcast on Facebook Live from the drone!
If you think you might be in the market for a drone, keep the following in mind:
- Definitely get one with a 4k camera! Yes you will will be able to tell the difference.
- Considering purchasing an assortment of lease filters or at least a polarized filter. It’ll cut the glare when you’re shooting around water.
- Most drones store video and pictures on a micro sd card and will ship with an 8gb or 16gb card. Get yourself a 64gb card. Nothing is worse than filling up the card and not being able to take anymore pictures or shoot more video. Except maybe running out of juice, which brings us to . . .
- By an extra battery or two, you won’t regret it!
